The corporate motto “innovation, engineered” does not just relate to products and production, but also involves responsible management of our natural resources. With over 50 years of experience in coil-coating and the sales of aluminium composite panels starting in 1991, Arconic Architectural Products had already demonstrated its innovative leadership in the industry. With Reynobond® XXL, it brought the first extra-wide aluminium composite panels to market, with Reynodual® the first coil-coated double sheet aluminiul panel and with Reynobond® WOOD Design, the first coating that looks like wood but has all the advantages of aluminium. With Reynobond®|Reynolux® with EcoClean™ Arconic Architectural Products is the only company in the world offering its customers an aluminium facade material that not only cleans itself but also the surrounding air.

Ventilated aluminium facades to improve energy efficiency

Due to global warming and growing restrictions on energy and material resources worldwide, effective building insulation is also growing ever more important. It contributes to reduction of the power consumption and CO2 emissions of buildings, whether in new construction or through renovation. In this respect, an aluminium facade takes on several functions at once: In addition to its visual, physical and economic properties, it also contributes to better energy efficiency and sustainable building use. Due to its light weight Reynobond® Architecture, Reynolux® Building and Reynodual® Building are especially beneficial in statically sensitive buildings and are thus ideal for renovation of existing buildings.

Aluminium facades allow the design of long-lasting, visually attractive buildings that simultaneously meet requirements for thermal protection and energy savings. It is specifically older buildings that consume too much energy, due to their lack of facade insulation. An additional insulation from outside not only improves the preservation and aesthetics of the building, but it simply turns an unsightly facade into an affordable, modern and attractive facade. Thus, even after 20 years a building can be sustainably upgraded with a new facade.

Aesthetic insulation solution compliant to RT 2012

Sustainably efficient insulation is an ideal use of low-maintenance, flexibly designable back-ventilated facades. The requirements of the French thermal regulations RT 2012 can be reached concerning the thickness of the insulation layer covered by the ventilated facade. Facade cladding made of Reynobond® Architecture, Reynolux® Building or Reynodual® Building provides the insulation with protection from weather as well as the load-bearing structure and substructure. It protects the building effectively from sun and rain. The insulation and walls also remain dry thanks to the back-ventilated intermediating space. The circulating air prevents heat build-up in the summer and heat loss in the winter, ensuring a pleasant room temperature throughout the year.

Advantages of the ventilated facade

Back-ventilated facades fit like a second skin around the building and ensure optimal external thermal insulation based on the following properties: high thermal inertia, minimisation of thermal bridges, and increased thermal performance. This in turn reduces the energy consumed in buildings for heating and air conditioning. This makes ventilated facades the most efficient solution for the external thermal insulation to improve the energy balance of a building. The energy savings also reduce CO2 emissions. In this way, Reynobond® Architecture, Reynolux® Building and Reynodual® Building contribute to new buildings such as in the compliance with modernised statutory environmental policies, such as RT 2012 or for passive houses.
