The lime tree, shrouded in legend and national customs, songs and poetry throughout the ages, is distinguished by its fine and uniform texture. Separation of the annual rings is so faint that the long surfaces reveal a correspondingly understated figure or stripe. Decorative accents on the radial side of the lustrous, yellowish white to sometimes reddish or brownish wood are provided by luminous, two-millimeter-high rift grain.
