Whether a single- or multi-family home, a warehouse, carport or garage: all these structures have roof surfaces, some of which substantial in size, which for the most part go completely unused. And yet they are an ideal place to add an extra splash of greenery, especially in urban settings, and make an important contribution to improving the climate. Installing a green roof is beneficial not only to the environment: besides also optically upgrading a building, such planting protects the roof from external weather influences and serves as a natural air conditioner thanks to its insulating properties.
When installing green roofs, a choice generally has to be made between extensive and intensive planting. The former consists of so-called sedum – thick-leaved plants that need no taking care of and are able to hold huge amounts of rainwater. Intensive planting, on the other hand, involves roof gardens with elaborate planting comprising shrubs, bushes, grasses and small trees. Due to the nature of these plants, this option requires much larger installation heights and thus a heavier load per square metre.
We offer three integrated systems for extensive rooftop planting that lend themselves to different requirements.
