The innovative ventilated facades, which are being used on a growing number of projects, open up new paths in the fixing of large size ceramic tiles. This technique is perfectly suited to less conventional building shapes, granting greater creative freedom.
It is effectively a double skin, with significant advantages when compared to traditional facade covering systems. It can be used to cover all types of buildings, quickly and effectively, and also improves the aesthetic and thermal and acoustic insulation characteristics.
Ventilated facades are an established construction system widely accepted among architects and builders due to their quality, aesthetic possibilities and unarguable advantages in terms of thermal insulation. The facade system comprises of a supporting wall, an insulation layer which is fixed or projected onto the wall, and a cladding layer, anchored to the building using a fixing structure, normally from aluminium. There is an air chamber between the insulation and the cladding which, due to the chimney effect, provides effective natural ventilation, with remarkable advantages.
SEMI-CONCEALED FIXING
Involves fixing the ceramic tiles using aluminium or stainless steel support clamps, which can be lacquered in the same colour as the cladding chosen.
CONCEALED FIXING
Usage of internal clamps facilitated by a small incision on the top of the ceramic tiles. The use of chemical fixing as a security measure is recommended in addition to the mechanical fixation.
