Triple-layer single planks are composed of three bonded layers; the top or surface layer is a fine quality wood, 4/6 mm thick; the intermediate layer is composed of a soft-wood cross-ply, and the bottom layer may be composed of either the same wood as the surface, or alternatively, a lesser quality wood (the counterbalance layer varies according to the type of wood selected. The particular feature of the triple-layer version is that it can be glued to the sub-flooring or laid as floating floorboards. When fitting a floating floor, a fine foam underlay (generally 2-3 mm thick) is laid between the floor surface (screed) and the floorboards. In this way, the boards are positioned on the underlay and are glued along the tongue and groove joins only. Whatever laying technique is used, raw wood must be treated with a finish very rapidly. Sizes of the various formats vary according to the wood type selected. We produce other formats on request. The various layers are assembled using adhesives that are perfectly compliant with current UNI EN regulations controlling formaldehyde emission.
