stool AMORPH
designed by Rodrigo Vairinhos & Ricardo Mendes Menezes Júnior
This stool combines sustainability with a contemporary design approach. Made from high-quality cork leather, its organic shape deviates from traditional rigid stools, resembling a relaxed, folded bag or a soft cushion that has naturally settled.
With a seat height and width of 40 cm each, this form invites a sense of playfulness while maintaining functionality, evoking a casual and accessible aesthetic. Its design may remind one of a beanbag chair, but with a more sculptural quality and a firmer texture, striking a balance between softness and structure.
The stool celebrates the imperfections and natural texture of cork leather, adding character and warmth to any space. The unique properties of cork—lightweight, shock-absorbing, and renewable—are fully utilised in this piece. Inside, it features expandable PU foam, providing an exceptionally comfortable seating experience while ensuring the stool remains eco-friendly. The use of cork leather reduces reliance on synthetic materials, making "AMORPH" an eco-conscious alternative to conventional seating options.
What sets this design apart from typical stools is its versatility and sensory appeal. Unlike the hard surfaces of many stools, this cork leather piece offers a tactile experience that engages the senses of touch and sight, inviting users to appreciate the material's natural qualities. Additionally, the shape slightly adapts to body contours, enhancing comfort while still providing support. Its lightweight nature also allows for easy repositioning within a space, making it ideal for flexible living environments.
