The idea of “Murano Sottovuoto”(Vacuum Murano) was born from the regret of seeing a glass of Murano, entirely handmade with a remarkable executive complexity, sold off for a few tens of euros.
Fabio Fornasier wanted to give the right, deserved value to the same glass, decontextualizing its original intended use, dissolving it again in the oven, until it becomes thin, lifeless, and then fixes, under vacuum, the shapes and even the tiny imperfections, which make each piece unique. The chandelier becomes a tribute to a centuries-old tradition, noting the refined labor, from an unprecedented, squashed perspective, just as Murano itself and the art of glass are oppressed by a thousand problems and a fragility of the system. Fabio Fornasier by vacuuming glass art preserves it indefinitely and also makes a declaration of total love of it. His chandelier is a super contemporary design object, but a derivative of ancestral wisdom.
