Saigon rattan chair: exclusive refinement The Saigon rattan cane chair is the perfect marriage of two noble materials: rattan cane and teak. Teak, a noble and precious wood, needs no introduction, but few people are aware of the technical expertise behind rattan caning. Each strand is first peeled from a rattan cane (which is actually its natural bark), and then planed and graded to give it a regular profile. Then comes the weaving operation, which can be mechanical (on looms of some kind) or manual. The critical point is the quality of the rattan cane.
