Built in 1889 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Cambridge Public Library was given an elegant new extension with a double skin façade. The buildings - new and old - are connected by a transparent glass corridor implemented as an aluminum stick system. The new building's main design is the 4-story, climate-active, rear-ventilated, double skin façade, with its high level of transparency opening the building up to the park outside.
Scope of Work
680 sqm (7,300 sq ft) of double-skin façade, 600 sqm (6,500 sq ft) of standardized aluminum façade system with double glazing.
