AsfaltTex GC Asphalt Reinforcement Grid is a composite material produced with the method of knitting the glass fiber strands in square or rectangular shapes and coating them with polymer bitumen and combining them with non-woven type geotextile during production. When AsfaltTex asphalt geogrids and composites are placed on the superstructure of asphalt roads, they increase the strength of road under repeated loads such as vehicle load, and extend the lifetime of road by delaying the formation of cracks.
Fields of Application and Use
■ After the application surface is grinded, the cracks on the surface should be filled and the required surface repair should be performed.
■ The application surface must be free from asphalt particles, dust and foreign matters.
■ A 2-3 cm thick leveling course is laid.Emulsion required by the specifications is applied prior to the application of AsfaltTex.
■ AsfaltTex is laid on the adhesive layer by hand or machine. Overlaps and repairs are carried out as instruction in the specifications.Minimum 5 cm hot asphalt mixture layer is spread over AsfaltTex.
■ In AsfaltTex applications, the amount of emulsion to be used as adhesion layer should be determined correctly depending upon its type and application surface. If its amount is less, it will be difficult to adhere to each other with the asphalt concrete layer. If its amount is too much, it will be inevitable that it will stick to the machines moving on it and therefore, potholes might occur in the application.
■ Used as an intermediate layer in the transformation of a concrete runway into an asphalt runway at airports,
