Contemporary Steel And Membrane Art
The Musée des Arts Contemporains, Hornu, Belgium hosted the most extensive exhibition of works of the world famous London artist Anish Kapoor. A particularly impressive component of this comprehensive work was the ‘Melancholia’ sculpture.‘Melancholia’ is the third sculpture successfully completed by Hightex for the artist in 2004. Carried out on behalf of the Belgian Ministry of Culture, over 15 tons of steel together with 300 square meters of PVC membrane were utilized for the 36m long x 6.8 meter high PVC sculpture. Contained within historical walls, the exhibition visitor has been in awe of the vast dimensions of this impressive piece.
