The Gira home stations are hands-​free systems for flush-​mounted installation. The basic device with speaker, microphone and call buttons can be expanded to include a TFT colour display and an additional button for in-​house calls. High-tech modular The Gira home sta­tion com­bines a tra­di­tional hands-​free sys­tem with con­veni­ent ad­di­tional be­ne­fits: The basic device with speaker, mi­cro­phone and call but­tons can be op­tion­ally ex­ten­ded to in­clude a TFT col­our dis­play and an ad­di­tional but­ton for in­ternal calls. Functions and features The voice qual­ity achieved by all the Gira home sta­tion ver­sions can be com­pared to qual­ity levels achieved in mo­biles or hands-​free sys­tems in cars. The user se­lects his or her fa­vour­ite from five dif­fer­ent ring­tone melod­ies, as well as two op­tional ad­di­tional func­tions: on/off light switch­ing – e.g. for stair­cases – and an auto­matic door opener, which is often used in med­ical prac­tices to open the door auto­mat­ic­ally when some­body rings the bell. Speaker and microphone The hands-​free unit is equipped with a voice-​operated switch. The mi­cro­phone is auto­mat­ic­ally ac­tiv­ated where the level is higher. If am­bi­ent noise at the front door is par­tic­u­larly high, the per­son at the home sta­tion can ac­tiv­ate the mi­cro­phone with an over­ride func­tion by press­ing a but­ton. Call button The sur­faces of the call and op­er­at­ing but­tons are ro­bust, UV-​resistant, and shock and scratch res­ist­ant. The but­tons are as­signed func­tions such as door open­ing, call ac­cept­ance and con­trol of ring­tone and voice volume.
