The works of Peter Wagensonner are parti-cularly dear to us. Whether modelled wood sculptures, elegant spheres made from tree roots or whole trees, each object is unique. Peter Wagensonner senses the individuality of the wood and the way it has grown and then carves these out.
“We have to observe the available space very carefully, in order to ‘plant’ a tree in a room, but a correctly sized piece from outside can create a very invigorating effect through th resulting contrast”, says Peter Wagensonner.
The sculptures of Peter Wagensonner, espe-cially the tree shells, illustrate through form and shape what happened to the trees – the years in which they could grow quietly and strongly, those in which they suffered an the forces that formed them.
