The colouring of leather by hand involves exceptional skill and is undertaken only by a handful of highly skilled upholsterers. The dyes are mixed and gently massaged into the leather which is then allowed to dry. This process is repeated at least 6 times to ensure a beautifully toned patina and an authentic antiqued appearance. As the dyes are absorbed in varying intensifies on different areas of the skin. The original hallmarks of the hide ensure that every piece is completely unique and distinctive. The result is an object of valued possession to be passed down generations; a genuine article worthy enough to be called an Heirloom.
