When using thin bricks from the product lines Feldhaus | vascu (waterstruck look), Feldhaus | planto (back side look) and Feld - haus | baro (rustic look) both the front and back sides can be used as visible sides, thus creating an extremely unusual brick appearance. With Feldhaus | vascu the front side of the brick generally corresponds to the waterstruck look and the reverse side to the back side look. The front side composed of Feldhaus | planto gives a back side look effect whereas the reverse side is smooth. At one time the back side look was considered as a by-product of brick manufacture, because the stones on the kiln cars could not be precisely manufactured. However, today this look seems so appealing for exactly this reason. Feldhaus | planto is sharp-edged all around and cannot be chamfered as precisely as smooth thin bricks, slight impressions on the surface are desired. This effect can be softened by using more, or less, smooth back sides as required. The product line Feldhaus | baro shows a scaled surface on the front side and on the reverse side a back side look. Thus a completely different effect is created depending on the direction of the light, making the surface change from smooth to rustic.
