Acrylic panel of 1000 x 600 x 3 mm, coated with natural urushi lacquer and silver foil on the back side. The pattern that reminds us of Sakura flower is the result of moving of urushi in the process of drying. Once set, it never moves. The work that only genuine natural lacquer can make. The panel is ready for cut and then rolled, curved, folded or twisted for shaping, but it is nice as it is for the wall decoration. Maximum size 1000 x 1800 mm.
Urushi lacquer mostly used as an overcoating of wooden material, for food-ware, furniture or fixture and so on. But with the transparent material like acrylic, we have found that the layers are to be made on the back surface to be shown reversely. By coating genuine urushi and then silver foil, the lacquer moves during the time of drying, affecting foil. It results in the unexpected miraculous pattern. We even put the drying condition in data to produce the similar pattern.
The lacquered acrylic can be cut by the laser machine minutely, and then are easy to make forms. Acrylic is light enough to hang from the ceiling or on the wall, and the pattern of Sakura flower conveys the brilliant atmosphere.
