The mythological figure of the Chimera lends itself to describing almost perfectly the decorative inspiration behind the namesake ceramic collection designed by Elena Salmistraro. Originating from four graphic themes named Empatia, Radici, Ritmo, and Colore, this family of large slabs is distinguished by a marked visual extroversion, with subjects that blend different codes of stroke and color with cutouts derived from the surface appearance of stones, fabrics, and leathers.
In this expressive carousel, always following the suggestion given by the guiding image of the chimera, the author orchestrates intriguing combinations of figures, which are amplified by the use of an innovative ceramic surface processing technique. In addition to achieving an entirely unusual chromatic vibrancy, the decorations are created in groove or relief, generating tactile sensations of extraordinary effect, similar to minute embroidery that extends over the slabs with results never before expressed by a CEDIT-branded product.
