The Rilevi collection, designed by Zaven, is the result of an elaborate design process that starts from a refined and virtuous combinatory work between two basic elements: a large ceramic slab and an overlaid three-dimensional "tile". The ways in which the two "ingredients" combine can vary depending on their numerical multiplication, the laying orientations of the slabs, the shapes obtained by placing the tiles side by side, and the combinations and juxtapositions of each of the elements in the collection. "Rilievi" is a design invention balanced between different historical moments; on one hand, the volumetric modules of the tiles draw inspiration from some expressive experiments conducted in Italy during the 1960s and 1970s, while the large-format slabs are the result of material and technological research that has reached absolute quality standards in recent times. The play of shadows cast on the surfaces of the slabs, created by the incidence of light on the raised modules, produces a unique architectural depth effect that, in the specifically ceramic context, has few equals and sets the stage for exploring an innovative decorative intention for interior spaces.
