Description

The Dodo blown glass coffee table is made using the ancient Balloton technique, characteristic of the traditions of the Murano master glassmakers. The body of the Dodo glass coffee table features a three-dimensional pattern of criss-crossing rhombi, obtained from a metal mould. As a result of blowing, the tips inside the mould shape the molten glass and produce the characteristic facetted effect of the balloton process. In the upper part, a mandala pattern is created, slightly off-centre at the point where the mould's rhombi join, creating a pattern that resembles flower petals or the perfect patterns of Buddhist tradition with which nature expresses its magnificence. The optical effect is spectacular, further accentuated by the violet shades in the smoked crystal. The light reverberates across the even patterns, producing a soft, delicate effect. The three supports that form the legs have a sharp appearance that contrasts with the roundness of the designer table. This detail also contributes to the overall effect of retro flair adapted to the contemporary style. This coffee table is an expression of the magnificence of handcrafted glasswork.
