CANAL installed this feature straight staircase inside a luxury mews house in London. Hidden in the maze of historical streets in Knightsbridge, the mews house required three bespoke staircases.
CANAL installed two floating staircases (not shown) from the basement to the first floor, incorporating materials, which matched the rest of the interior décor.
For the third staircase (pictured), CANAL fabricated a large straight structure with a quarter turn leading up towards a bedroom at the top of the property. The design of the staircase was led by the dramatic ascetic in the rest of the home, incorporating rich, dark materials and tactile finishes.
The main structure was fabricated from mild steel, creating strength through the large double stringers on either side. The steel treads were later clad with hand crafted stained oak.
21.5mm laminated tinted glass was installed behind the staircases on each level creating a sumptuous backdrop. 17.5mm tinted glass was also incorporated throughout as a balustrade material providing cohesion to the design.
CANAL installed a bespoke flat bar mild steel handrail on this bespoke staircase to complement the glass balustrade before the entire structure was sprayed in a dark bronze.
