Open plan living makes extra demands on the look as well as the functionality of a staircase. With cracked glass stair treads imported from Italy, this one is certainly stunning. The client was after an ultra modern look; that whilst being a centre piece for the large, double height open plan living area would not dominate the space. Lots of huge glass windows to create a sense of space and light needed something a bit special for the staircase and mezzanine landing. The resulting stainless steel spine construction for the staircase and bridge, together with amazing cracked glass treads and floor panels imported directly from Italy really fits the bill. The finishing touch is the balustrade made from stainless steel tube with unobtrusive stainless steel tension cables.
