Carcemal - Malhas e Confecções Lda. is a recognized textile company operating for many years in the Portuguese market. In 2012 the company decided the complete renovation of the premises they had invested since 1995, to give a new breath to the ageing site, more in line with their brand image, and to offer their employees a place they would be proud to work in.
Combining industrial efficiency with comfort and modernity, the architects’ concept integrates the most recent “good place to work” trends, to federate the employees and reinforce the collaboration between the different units on site: production, logistics, offices…
Every area has been designed to provide the appropriate spot: attractive and productive workstations for each activity, large living spaces encouraging collaborative exchanges. A suspended glass walkway also facilitates the circulation from one building to another.
The facade has also been designed to make the most of both aesthetic and performance. The old structure has been totally wrapped with 2 500 m2 Reynolux® pre-painted aluminium sheets, corrugated to mimic fabric texture. The custom-made perforation* allows the light to enter through the large windows hidden under the aluminium curtain without overheating risk.
Beyond the aesthetic renewal, the architects, by opting for Reynolux® Building aluminium, reached one of their main goals: minimizing the weight efforts on the structure while providing excellent corrosion resistance and high energy efficiency.
