The panels are bent or thermoformed locally with a mould. Panels are most often bent into the form of the letter Z (Z-panels) or C (C-panels); “C” and “Z” panels are designed for the construction of noise barriers, in order to reduce external noise from traffic on roads, highways, and railways, or to reduce the transfer of sound from areas of industry, sports surfaces, etc. The shape of the panel affects the acoustic properties of the panel (the deflection and absorption of sound).
